Non-verbal Reasoning

Non-verbal reasoning tests are what we would generally consider to be an IQ test – lots of graphics, pattern matching and nets. You would initially think you can’t prep for this sort of test but it turns out that there are only 8-10 sorts of questions – so you can definitely prepare for them. Also, the more mock tests you do the more clear it all becomes.

James – my youngest – really got into these and we made most of the crib sheets together.

Here are Some of Our Crib Sheets

Have a quick look at these and you’ll get the idea of how to guide your child to make their own cribs. You can use crib sheets just for the areas that your child struggles with or if they are enjoying the process then why not expand the range to cover most of the main topics.

The Best Study Aids

We searched and searched and this was the best help we could find. As well as practice tests it walks through the main sorts of question and how to work through the answers

The Only Real Solution

Read the book, make the cribs and then the only way to get better is to keep practicing the tests. Buy the CPG, Galore Park and Bond mock paper books and just hammer away at them are regular intervals – their scores will improve. If they feel like they just don’t “get it” then slow down the rate of doing mock papers and then come back to them once their confidence has been boosted in some other area like Maths or English.
